  Quote of the Week

Wise men talk because they have something to say; fools, because they have to say something ( Plato, 429-347 BC )

Our Environment

Cotton Dreams cares about the environment. We take environmental responsibilities very seriously. As such, it is important to recognise that we are trying to do our bit to save the planet. To this end, Cotton Dreams promotes ethical and sustainable work practices.

Examples of this include:
1. Surplus cardboard packing from suppliers is taken to the local cardboard skip for recyling.
2. Cotton Dreams carrier bags are made from recyled plastic.
3. Most of the packing and bags used are recyclable.
4. Most of the paper used is from a recyled source.
5. Old printer inkjet cartridges are placed in an ink cartridge collection point.
6. We do not issue paper mail order catalogues. Instead, we rely on this website for the bulk of our business orders.

Do you care passionately about your environment?

Authentic Business

Although Cotton Dreams does not claim to be a true authentic business, we are striving towards ethical and sustainable work practices. Authentic transformation will take some time but we do question suppliers about how and where products are made and whether fair trade standards are used.
We are also trying to source organic cotton fabrics.

Do you have respect for life on earth?

DID YOU KNOW . . . . .

- 6,000,000 Christmas trees were thrown away last year. That is 9,000 tonnes of extra landfill.
- 680 million batteries were bought in the UK last year. Only 5% of them were rechargeable. The rest are sent to landfill.
- It is estimated that 83 square km of Christmas wrapping paper will end up in UK dustbins after Christmas. That is more than enough to cover an area the size of Guernsey
- In Britain, 4 million tons of packaging material ends up in landfill every year. Relate this to an aircraft carrier which weighs approx. 60,000 tons.
- There is 25 million tons of litter on the streets of Britain today.
- The UK could save £150 million/year if we all switched off our television and video recorders each night. That little red stand-bye light is costing you more than you think.
